Thanks for the article references. Does anyone have background on how DCT assembled their amazing band of musicians? From watching the concert DVDs, several people really stand out. Urashima Rin -- She's almost worth the price of admission alone. She really belts out the backing vocals and sings wit...

Thanks for the info! What a great story. It's the songs that attracted me to DCT in the first place. That may sound obvious, but what I mean is that Miwa seems to have found her own "voice" as a songwriter very early on. I guess that's not surprising when you pen more than 200 songs before you ever ...

DCT band
Just finished watching 99 Natsu no Yume DVD, and was surprised to see only the three members. They did a great job (Miwa playing solo piano on Jikan Ryoko is worth the price alone), but I couldn't help thinking that they sound even better with a full band. Do they usually play with a band? I have tw...

This is big news. Thanks. You've just made my day. I can't wait to hear it. My guess is that will be more jazz-oriented stuff, but really, who knows? Miwa is such a gifted singer who can handle a wide variety of styles. Anything is possible. One thing is certain, it's going to be great to listen to!

Jei, Thanks for the history of Wonderland, especially the info on the '95 venue, and for the photos. I was scratching my head trying to figure out where in Japan that could have been. What impresses me most is how they seem to design the concerts so that fans get a good view of their heroes. What a ...

Wonderland Shows
Can anyone provide any background on the Wonderland Shows? Are they only once every four years? This time, there seem to be several Wonderland shows scheduled. In '99, where there just two? Are these shows a "thank you" to the fans? If so, what a great idea! After seeing DCT at the Fillmore, I bough...

Beauty and Harmony by Miwa Yoshida
Very good stuff! I urge DCT fans to order it if they haven't heard it. Smooth, mello, jazzy, but a great way to start the day.
Any idea when another solo Miwa record might come out?
She's such a great jazz vocalist, it would be nice to hear more like this.

Billie, Ella, Sarah, and Miwa
I think those first three names are necessary for understanding DCT and their goals. It's no coincidence that Miwa's main influences are Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sarah Vaughn. They are among America's greatest singers ever, and I think those are the kind of high stakes DCT is playing for...

The evolution of DCT
Great story JEI. Here's my take on where DCT is with their career. They are in a kind of transition phase. Obviously, their music has evolved a great deal over the albums. In fact, it is this artistic growth that makes them the great band they are. They are clearly committed to exploring new musical...

Re: Merch sales
At the Fillmore they had a couple CDs (Sing or Die (Universal mix? or something), Monkey Girl Odessey, and the Monster, plus It's all about Love single. Saw a single T-shirt style w/ MGO logo. Seemed to be offered in the "Free" size (one size fits all--if you're built like the average Japanese!) but...

The Fillmore
Wow. Awesome. Incredible. Beyond Description. One of the best shows I have ever seen. Set list was basically the same as the other nights. Highlights for me were basically every song. The MGO songs really sounded great live. OK. Let’s cut to the chase. You want to know how Miwa looked, right? She lo...

Hello!
I lived in Japan for 10 years. All during that time, the music of DCT was right under my nose, and I ignored it. I arrogantly thought that all Japanese music was crap. As I was getting ready to leave, I wanted to take some things that would remind me of Japan (a place I love and hope to live in agai...
