Getting the DVD from amazon.co.jp is going to be a LOT cheaper than the flight over.

Maybe I'll even be able to see my (empty) seat that I bought :(

It's success shows just how fickle the pop music buying audience is
Similar to Kome Kome Club's 1990 #1 mega-hit, Roman no Hikou.

This was actually a track on their 1987 album that didn't go anywhere until JAL featured it & KKC in their Okinawa ad campaign for 1990.

nako, using pop-jisho on that complicated headline-style abbreviated grammar I get this... "Coming up on Dorikamu's 20th anniversary, concerning the intention to create the long-format documentary of Miwa Yoshida that only Sueda-director can film, even though it was stretched to the breaking point t...

KOME KOME Club

Thanks naka for posting that to jps. . . I knew K2C had the biggest-selling single of the 90s (top 5 of all-time!) but they peaked just before I got there so, like DCT 1992-1996, I only knew about mainly from seeing their Sony Music Entertainment billboards. I hadn't yet seen their ROMAN HIKOU PV fr...

It's really obscene how well B'z 'charts in' every time:

http://www.tbs.co.jp/cdtv/artistdb/artist235-j.html

They've been going a year longer than DCT and have basically doubled DCT's output, which was easy to do since all their songs sound the same.

DCT takes half an album to get into, and it depends on the person which set to play.

Puffy's oevre is summed up with their song phrase "KANI TABE IKKOU!" . . . if you like that, you've got Puffy.

DCT is gourmet new-wave small-portion dimly lit obscurity . . . Puffy is McD's.

Puffy's much-more pop-rock, while DCT is/was deeper and more mature, both lyrics and arrangement. Puffy was created by and is also fed by the music industry, while DCT stays within their own talents and patterns. Plus the Puffy girls, er women, attract the fanboys while Miwa is Miwa. You look at DCT...

I'm going to head up to J-Town tomorrow to see what if the bucket shops have . . . btw, thanks nako for the 1999 WL vids via JPS . . . it was great seeing my translations on a couple of songs, even if my choices were a bit rough in places. . .

well shoot, I've paid for the tickets but it's still going to cost me $1000 to get there . . .

back in the day I could just walk to Aoyama, but of course getting tickets in the 90s was nearly impossible . . . sigh . . .

Thanks for the nice review! Wonder if they'll let me just use my camera as a telescope? ? ? :) Chances are still ~25% that my company will send me to Tokyo next month. English skills in Tokyo won't be any better than Fukuoka. I do recommend learning how to sound out the 48 katakana syllables (make s...

thanks! Lyrics and voicing not quite as taut as the original, but any video is always nice.

Funny how 'love' is easy to say in Japanese but impossible for Japanese to say in English . . . I got UA's live album recently and she tried to cover Jefferson Airplane's "Somebody to Love" . . .

I've (allegedly) got tickets but the total cost is giving me cold-feet! $900 for the plane ticket, ~$1500 for a week's expenses, and the real killer is the burned vacation time . . . pushing $5000 just to see a concert! (having lived in Tokyo 1992-2000 I have no great need to spend a week there, and...
