So, what's in your CD Player/MP3 Player lately?
* Cornelius: 'Point' (Album)
It's still odd to find JPop in the stores here in the states and buying this album at my local 'BestBuy' (Giant Music/Video/Electronics chain) felt even odder. But the music transcends all that...
Cornelius is a fantastic musical experimentalist...it's always pleasing to experience people working outside of the box. Mix some acousitc guitar, some rock, some R&B, some funk, a little Frank Zappa, some water...
Makes for a very satisfying (if you can get into it) album...
'Drop' is the best song from the album. (The water reference...)
* Fayray: 'Over' (Single)
Another strong, sultry singer (with perfect English) who definitely seems to be underappreciated by the general public. Mostly Rock/Pop stylings...she reminds me of a certain 70s singer whose name I can't pull from the back of my mind... ^^;
* Rag Fair: 'Love Love na Couple Furi Furi de Chuu' (and others) (Singles)
Did quite a double take to see this acapella/Bobby McFerrin style group beginning to make it on the charts, especially since they don't keep to one style of music. 'Love Love..' is a great energetic doo-wop style song, while 'Koi no Mileage' is a Beach Boy-style surfing song.
No instruments in sight, but they still sound better most plugged groups...
* Skoop On Somebody: 'a tomorrowsong' (Single)
A very catchy R&B joint with a decent male singer who sounds like he might have more vocal strength under what he's presented. Definitely looking forward to what they have to say in the future...
