Cover Bands

Erm, I am very new to this term. Does this mean these bands sing songs similar to DCT's style? Or simply that they just sings songs already written by DCT?

Northern All Stars (N*A*S)
These bands just copy past DCT songs? DCT writes songs for them? Or do they simply try and mimic DCT's style?
One more thing. Does Northern All Stars have anything to do with Southern All Stars? I LOVE Southern All Stars! But I haven't heard of Northern All Stars... Are they related to DCT too?
