Learning Japanese!
I am trying! Wish me luck, I just picked up Rosetta Stone (from a friend) and I've started the lessons.
Do we have any native speakers here and where would be a good place to go to learn/interact with other people that are trying? ^ ^;

No advice on social sites, but I've found popjisho:

to be an indispensable resource in translation work.

Good news! Due to work and various financial difficulties, my ability to go to school was delayed for... a long time!
But after hard work and several attempts to acquire the proper paperwork, I'm actually going to be going to school to get my degree in Applied Linguistics / Japanese Studies and get the papers to become an ESoL instructor (and possibly a Japanese or English teacher).
:3! Woo!

awesome!
I actually went over to Tokyo before the web got popular, so things are a lot easier now.
unfortunately Japan is kinda shrinking as a country -- when I was there there were 20M young people my age, now there are only 15M young adults -- and competition among foreigners for jobs there is pretty tough, but on the other hand China and Korea are taking up some of the competition so it could be worse I guess.
Study hard, stay focused, and get yourself into top physical shape. Succeeding in the Japanese market requires presenting a professional, friendly image and that takes work and experience to create and maintain!

Well I haven't gotten into any of my core classes just yet. Doing my basic English, getting my Philosophy and American history out of the way. Intro to Anthropology is neat. I might have that as my minor. n.n; Unfortunately though, for the time being, I'm still stuck learning at home.tokyophoto wrote:How's it going so far?Yukifox wrote:But after hard work and several attempts to acquire the proper paperwork, I'm actually going to be going to school to get my degree in Applied Linguistics / Japanese Studies and get the papers to become an ESoL instructor (and possibly a Japanese or English teacher).
