I moved while the CD was in route, and I just received it at my new place. First, I love the beginning. The Open Sesame intro followed by Asahi no Senrei and Kessen no Kinyoubi is overpowering. The only way to put on a kick-ass show is to have a kick-ass beginning, and they did. Miwa's intro was ver...

The tickets were very easy to get. I went to Yoyogi about 3:30, 4 p.m. and lots of people were lined up already. I asked a couple of guys to show me a real ticket, and then went back to the scalpers to buy one. Several scalpers were working the area in front of the building. After a short negotiatio...

MTV Super Dry Live
I'm back from Japan and ready to report on the MTV Super Dry Live event held at Yoyogi on May 28. There were about six or seven bands on the bill. DCT was the fourth to appear. Miwa was dressed in pink satin pants and vest, white tube shirt, pink fedora. They played: Kessin no Kinyobi Ola Vitoria In...

Low ticket sales could be the reason. The Warfield is probably twice as big as the Fillmore, at least. Still cozy and comfortable, but the Warfield has a big balcony, and a big floor for seating. It was a huge magnificent movie theater, whereas the Fillmore is just a square floor, with minimal balco...

That invitation system looks to be for Japan residents only. Boo! I wonder if they check ID to verify identify of people holding invitations? And nothing against Ashanti or Soul'd Out, but I doubt that either can hold a candle to DCT. If each artist only gets to play 45 minutes or so, it will suck. ...

MTV Super Dry Live on May 28
OK, what's up with this Super Dry Live concert on May 28? I'm going to be in Japan on May 28 and would love to try to catch this show. DCT is the headliner on this show, right? Or is it a three-co-headliners type of show? Did I read correctly that it's at the Yoyogi pool? I suppose tickets will be a...

Thanks for the heads up. Their new Cartoon Network show no doubt has brought them many new fans. The first time they were in SF, they played a fairly small record store in the Haight! Now the Warfield. It's a beautiful theater with a big balcony and it's a great place to see a show. The Warfield is ...

I hope this song is a big hit, too. Definitely has the potential. I know I've listened to it/watched the video about a dozen times in the past 24 hours. I wondered why such a killer song was released on the heels of Diamond 15, but then I went back and read jei's comment that this is a TV theme song...

More on Kohaku
I have watched the videotape of the Kohaku performance of Yasashii Kisu o Shite many times now, and I am still blown away. It pretty much sums up everything that makes DCT so great. The lyrics are simply amazing. Really showcases Miwa's songwriting skills. The song builds so wonderfully from beginni...

Diamond 15
After the Kohaku performance, I had to reassess Diamond 15. The performance of yasashii kisu o shite blew me away and that song is now officially in the "new DCT classics" category - songs that are destined for a place in the top-tier of DCT songs that you have to listen to over and over again. I al...

No doubt about it, they nailed the performance on Kohaku. This was another case where DCT took a song that I thought was OK, but not great, and turned it into a show-stopper (and now one of my favorites!). They really pushed it all the way and made it sound dramatic. Miwa's kimono-esque outfit was g...
