They performed with a real brass band!!! Quite impressive indeed. As usual on Kouhaku, their performance was nothing less than amazing. They were "tori" for the second year in row. I read somewhere it didn't happen for the red team since Akiko Wada in 1998-1999. I'm glad to see Japan still appreciates DCT's talent.

I loooooooooove Miwa's kimono! :) Is that a yukata or am I totally wrong?

I agree that the full brass band was quite impressive, even more so that they had the moves down too :)

Two questions for anyone ^^

1) At one point they focus in on one Tuba player...he looked familiar...anyone know?

2) The three dancers didn't include the regular two DCT guys...anyone know who they were? (One of them looked familiar too)

What's the link for that?
Or will it end up on YouTube?

I was disappointed with DCT's Kouhaku appearance. The performance itself wasn't bad; the marching band made it into a spectacle worthy of Kouhaku (and I was wondering how they were going to recreate those furry blue monsters and elf-things on stage), and enhanced the music. I was not happy about the song choice, though, and my wife has disliked 'Ikite' from the first time she heard it. We were wondering why they picked this song until we saw the DWL site and realized that Pocari Sweat probably paid them to use it, along with the blue and white uniforms and props.

Miwa's hair and make-up looked funny. Her outfit was neither yukata nor kimono; a sort of costume-kimono which looked okay, but the pastel colors were not matched by her dark make-up, my wife said.

As soon as we were finished watching, my wife asked to see DCT's performance from the previous Kouhaku. We watched it and agreed it was a much better performance all around.

Miwa's costume from 2005's yasashii kisu shite was also kinda odd . . .

According to DCT Garden, DCT has turned down an offer to appear in the 62d Kouhaku, stating they want to concentrate on making songs. It's too bad if they don't appear, but I wonder if this means they are working on a new album; the ladies we met at the Sapporo concert said they heard that a new album would be out by the end of the year.

That's understandable, them wanting to concentrate on recording new songs. :)

A new album though? They haven't released anything since Love Central.

An album where all the songs on it would be new, that would be something~ :)

That would be very rare! Especially by DCT's standards. We almost always get two or three leading singles. Though if that's the case, maybe we'll get a single announcement around Yule sometime!

The Garden site for them still has the stuff for The Soul For The People and THE LIVE!!! 2010 on it though.

My wife wondered if making up the Osaka concerts set their schedule back; still, it's true that there wouldn't be much time for a single release.

If I had to guess, based on their past record...

Probably "Sa Kane wo Narase", though I would love it if they played "Ai ga Tadoritsuku Basho"

I think the latter is their catchiest of their recent songs, though you have to admit that DCT has a craft when it comes to the soaring songs.
