Translation Practice: The Swinging Star
Posted: Mon Mar 30, 2009 3:40 pm
Well, before I start taking classes I wanted to warm up and my friend says that translating simple books or other things helps a better understanding of the language, so I figured I'd work on some DCT songs.
The only ALBUM I have (aside from Sing or Die WWV) is The Swinging Star, so I guess I'll start there. n.n I know a few of the songs are translated already and that's good to check myself. If anyone else would just give me some pointers, I'd be much appriciative. Just a little thingamajigger for my own personal benefit.
Anyway, song titles first!
The Swinging Star
1. The Swinging Star
2. あの夏の花火 - Ano Natsu no Hanabi
(The Fireworks of That Summer)
3. DA DIDDLY DEET DEE
4. SAYONARA (Extended Version)
5. 行きたいのは MOUNTAIN MOUNTAIN - Ikitai no wa Mountain Mountain
(The Place I Want To Go Is Mountain Mountain)
6. 眼鏡越しの空 - Meganegoshi no Sora
(The Sky Beyond Eyeglasses)
7. 決戦は金曜日 (Version of ‘THE DYNAMITES’) - Kessen wa Kin’youbi
(Showdown on a Friday)
8. 涙とたたかってる - Namida to Tatakatteru
(Fighting Back Tears)
9. HIDE AND SEEK
10. 太陽が見てる - Taiyou ga Miteru
(The Sun Is Watching Us)
11. SWEET SWEET SWEET
12. 晴れたらいいね - Haretara ii ne
(I Hope It’s A Clear Day)
Notes
-------
2. Seems pretty straight forward, may not be exact but I
think that's about right.
5. Was kind of confused on this one, I got "want to go" and
everything else is a possessive or article. n_n;
6. No clue on this one, seems to have something to do with
eyeglasses or eyes in general, and beyond or past.
7. Thought it might have been 'connection' rather than battle,
but the Kanji are actually specific to the "battle" meaning,
like a 'run-off' or 'playoff'. Showdown sounds cooler though. >.>
8. Er... tears was pretty easy but I could not for the life of me
even come close to finding out what the second word was, so
I made a guess from parts of it.
10. Kind of vague... Sun was easy, but the rest... not so much.
12. Seems to indicate a clear sky and well (twice)
so it's good it's clear, ねjust seems to be an expression
of agreement and the english lyrics on the site support this. n.n
