jei,
where was this concert held? On someone's farm, a la Woodstock? It doesn't look like a regular concert venue, or is it?

That particular one took place in Osaka, on Maishima Sport Island (a man made island) in Osaka Bay. The other '95 Wonderland took place is similar (near sea) places around the country.

It's a small island that's very sports heavy these days...was going to be the location of the 2008 olympics if Osaka had won it.

Here's what it looks like today:

And it was a concert venue created specifically for the Wonderland concert.

Pretty cool, ne? :)

In Tokyo '95 they were held on a similar landfill island in the bay.

At the time I wasn't a DCT fan, and remember seeing the fireworks over the bay and thinking they were a bit early (August is fireworks season).

Later that summer the great Japanese TV video show 'Countdown TV' -- which plays ~20-30sec of the top 50 singles every Saturday night -- started playing the clips of DCT in their funky sky/cloudy suits, and I first noticed DCT's energy on stage.

Here's CDTV's list of DCT appearances in the countdown (from 1995):

Then in 1998-99 on a lark I picked up the Wonderland '95 VHS and was blown away -- what a seriously impressive concert opening, plus the staging of songs to match the sunset was impressive.

The massive DCT concerts had about 50,000 people, IIRC. In the summer of '99 the j-rock band GLAY had a 200,000-person concert event, and ticket sales only covered half the production cost of ~$25M USD.
