Hi from England!

Post by James » Fri Aug 29, 2003 12:56 pm

Hi fellow DCT fans:

I'm from England (as I said) and it's great to see such a great little community of DCT fans here.

I got into DCT through the Sonic the Hedgehog games... most of you will know that Masa wrote the music for Sonic 1 and 2 for Sega in the early 90's. Although the programming isn't what it is today for games, the tunes he created are still fantastic. I decided to find out more information a few months back and I'm here today.

I'm a musician myself and find it hard to come by a band I can sit down and listen to and really enjoy - then I heard DCT and loved the music. I can't wait for my CD's to arrive!

Hope you all are well and well done to Jei for the excellent website.
James

Welcome James!

Glad to hear from another musician here on the boards!
(and UK to boot!)

Let us know what you think of all the music when your CDs come in. :)

I'm sure they will be great! I'm getting impatient now at the thought!

Just wondered, has anyone heard Masa's Sonic music and what did you think?

Theme From Sonic:

Dit-dit-dun-na-NA-na
Dit-dit-dun-na-NA-na

Not bad after not hearing it for ~12 years.

I didn't know DCT or the Masa-sonic connection for some time, but after I read it I thought it made sense.

If you want to hear more of Masa's newer stuff he hasn't really used much, check out the official dct site at dctgarden.com, the main page will play a little background theme.

Yeah, he's a talented guy. I like most of his stuff - old and new.

Must say, the sonic theme isn't one of my favourites, there are so many great tunes he made for that game. He must have got too busy with DCT to carry on scoring them... or got way too expensive for Sega.

Shame about the quality of the instruments 12 years ago - the primitive sound adds to the effect though!
